Let’s Tip The Scales

Judgment sucks! think we can all agree with that statement, especially when people are judging you. But the sad truth is I don’t think it will ever stop, it’s a part of our human condition. On top of that, the social media age we are in allows people to judge others without all the facts or understanding the situation. We can sit back and judge the actions of everyone we come across as we scroll through their social media lives. It’s easy to armchair quarterback a situation you didn’t have to be a part of.

I’ve done this myself, far too many times to count. I’ve judged people and their actions. I’ve used the familiar phrase, “If that was me I would have done ….”. It’s so far away from the person I am called to be but it’s easy to get sucked in. The beautiful thing is I don’t have to stay there.

There are 2 important steps to moving out of the judgment zone. First, I have to acknowledge that I’m there. I do this by calling myself on it or listening to the close group of people around me who call me on it. I can’t move out of the judgment zone if I believe I’m doing nothing wrong.

Second, I have to make the decision to tip the scales. Once I acknowledge where I am I have to make a change. It’s up to me to make grace greater than judgment. It’s up to me to make love greater than judgment. It’s up to me to make forgiveness greater than judgment. It’s up to me to make understanding greater than judgment.

Make today your day to tip the scales!
