In our pursuit to build a better life for ourselves and our families have we ever thought about what we may be losing? This is a question I’ve asked myself several times throughout my life’s journey. What am I sacrificing to get ahead, get the new job, or attend that certain school? Am I staying true to who I am, more importantly who I know I’m called to be?

In the past, I’ve found several occasions where I’ve cut corners, took advantage of others and been dishonest to try and “get ahead”. While I may have gotten that opportunity I was pursuing, what I understand now is what I lost was far greater. Every time I did this I was chipping away at the person I was called to be. I was losing my soul.

It’s important for each of us to ask ourselves this question, “Is it worth my soul?” Is that relationship, that job, that business, or that opportunity more important than your soul? Don’t let the opportunity in front of you change who you are called to be! Don’t lose your soul!
