Tuesday Thought – The Learning Principle

I never want to stop learning! This is why learning is a part of my Rule Of 5. If you remember from a previous post, these are the 5 things I focus on doing each day: Serve, Learn, Observe, Write and Read.

It is my desire to learn something new every day but this only works if I have the right attitude. There are 2 key ingredients to having the right attitude: humility and valuing people.

Humility allows me to be teachable. It’s admitting that I don’t know everything and I have so much to learn. It puts me in a position to be willing to learn. This is a stumbling point for many because they feel once they reach a certain status or position they’ve arrived and don’t need to continue learning.

Valuing people allows me to see the potential each person has to teach me something. It takes away the preconceived notion that because of a person’s age, gender, race, status, position, etc. they have nothing to teach me. When you truly value people as the special creation each person is, then you can see the potential they have to teach you something.

If we truly want to learn in life we need to see the opportunities around us represented by the people we interact with. If we can humble ourselves and truly value people there is no limit to what we can learn each and every day.

Evolution of Self!
