What direction is your life headed in right now?
Are you happy with that direction?
Have you ever stopped to wonder why you make certain decisions in your life?

This simple verse truly sheds a perfect light on why we do the things we do.
Each of us is a slave to something that is controlling us and our actions.
What each of us would like to say is we are slaves to things like love, generosity, caring and hope.
These are the things that control our lives and provide the direction and moral compass.
Our every action is focused on things which are right, pure and of God.
This is the way it should be right?

Unfortunately, our lives are not always that way.
Too often we become slaves to things like jealousy, envy, greed and lust.
These things control our lives and provide the direction and our moral compass.
It is then reflected in our actions and how we live our lives day in and day out.
We make bad decisions and our lives are headed in the wrong direction.
This is not the way it should be right?

We have to understand each day of our lives is a struggle, a battle to follow the right direction.
I can tell you I lose that battle each day if I don’t stay focused on what I allow to provide my direction and moral compass.
If I give in to things like greed and jealousy my life starts to spiral out of control.
But when I focus on things like love and generosity, I find myself living the life God intends for me.
So the battle is winnable, it just takes a concerted effort each and every day to not become a slave to the wrong things.
