Today I want to share a story of true humanity at its finest. I was in Belgium this past week and on my return flight there was an elderly gentleman who had a medical emergency. It was a serious issue that needed prompt medical attention and resulted in our plane being diverted.

What transpired during this time was a testament to the love we are called to have for each other. Many people jumped into action to not only take care of the gentleman but also give comfort to his wife. The main concern was saving this man’s life.

In this moment the differences among us didn’t matter. No one cared about nationality, gender, race, religion, political party or any of the other things used to divide us. The only thing that mattered was showing love and compassion to a fellow human being. In a world that’s become so divisive, this was a tremendous reminder of who we truly can be when we see each other as humans and not labels!
