Wouldn’t it be nice if we had it all together and didn’t have to deal with issues in our lives? I think we would all sign up for that. But as we all know, that is not reality. The reality is our lives are filled with daily challenges and obstacles to go along with the triumphs we have. It can be very unpredictable.

Being a good leader is not easy because you must deal with this unpredictability. We don’t get to lead only when those who are following us have good days. Good leaders are there to celebrate the good times, guide through the bad times and take appropriate action in the ugly times. Good leaders are there through the good, the bad and the ugly.

To be in a position of leadership, no matter how challenging it can be, is a privilege. As leaders, we should embrace the opportunity to help those we influence to manage the unpredictability of life. It’s our responsibility
