I have failed many times in my life. If you’ve read my book, you know I’ve shared many of those failures. These failures showed up in every aspect of my life from relationships to parenting. The truth is I will continue to fail as long as I live. But I can say it’s because of those failures in my life that I’m at a place I would deem successful.
I’m not talking about the material success of money and notoriety that many focus on. I’m talking about an inner feeling of success because I’m living my life the way I’m called to live it. The success that comes from waking up every morning and knowing I have a purpose. The success of knowing I’m making a positive impact in someone’s life each day.
Each time I failed there was a lesson learned. Each time I struggled there was a teaching moment. It wasn’t until I applied those lessons and teaching moments to my life that I started to see change. It wasn’t until I realized the failures didn’t define me that I was able to move forward down the road to my success.
If you seem to be stuck in a web of failures and defeat stop what you’re doing. Take time to reflect on the lessons from each of the failures and ask yourself, “Am I applying these lessons to my life today?” If not, start doing it so you can move forward down your road to success.
