I was watching a video on GoalCast yesterday and the speaker was talking about letting your light shine. Her message was simple, some people will say your light is too bright and you should turn it down but what you should do is turn it up and give them sunglasses. It was a great message that moved me to write this today.

Each of us is a light! We are put on this earth to shine brightly using the gifts we’ve been blessed with. Those gifts were given to you for a reason, you have a purpose. Unfortunately there are too many of us who are not shining brightly, fully utilizing our gifts.

I believe there are 3 reasons for this. One, you don’t believe you are a light. In other words you don’t believe you have any gifts the world needs or wants to see. Two, you’re afraid of your light. You understand you have gifts but you have no faith in your ability to use them so you keep them hidden. Three, you’re dimming your light. You only use your gifts sparingly because people have said your light is too bright.

Take a moment to think about your life and the things you are passionate about. Think about those talents you have which bring you joy and fulfillment. Are you fully utilizing them?

Embrace these gifts you’ve been blessed with. These are the things that make your light shine brightly. Don’t hold them back. Don’t be afraid. Don’t dim your light any longer. The world needs what God has blessed you with! The world needs your light!
