Being in New Hampshire this weekend for my son’s last football game at Dartmouth College provided a perfect opportunity for me to reflect on the many blessings we have been given.
As I look back through my life it’s amazing to see the many ways God has blessed me and my family.
There are tangible blessings I can point to, touch and see but also those intangible blessings that I cannot physically see.
Those times in my life where God, through His love for me, steered me away from disaster and pain.
Those times in my life where God sustained me through the disaster and pain.
Those times where I didn’t deserve His mercy and grace but He gave it to me anyway.
Each of us has those tangible and intangible blessings in our lives.
You may be in a place right now where you don’t feel God’s love for you.
The situation you’re in causes you to focus on the pain and hurt you’re currently feeling.
This is the perfect time for reflection on how He has blessed you and continues to bless you even through your pain.
This is the perfect time to Give Thanks to Him for those blessings.
By Giving Thanks you are able to take the focus off your current pain and put it on God’s love for you.
When you focus on His love for you the pain of the current situation starts to lessen.
While the problem may still be there, your focus has now shifted to the One who can fix your problem.
Now you feel hope, you feel joy and most importantly you feel His love.
So today, let’s shift the focus off the current negative situation you’re dealing with.
Start Giving Thanks and allow God’s love to sustain you through the storm you’re in.
