Yesterday I had a great discussion with CA, my 7 yr old, on the way to school.
He wanted to know how good we wanted him to be in soccer.
I told him I wanted him to use his skills to be the best soccer player he can be.
He asked, “What if I become the best player in the world”, and I said that would be great.
He then asked, “What if I don’t become the best player in the world?” and I answered that would be great also.
After a few more questions he understood it wasn’t the level he achieved but the fact that he was doing the best he could that mattered the most.
I’m certain you’ve all felt that way, where in order to feel like a success you have to reach a certain level.
Whether it’s in sports, your career, school, etc. there is always this feeling that you will be a disappointment if you don’t reach a certain level.
Today I want you to know that using the gifts you’re blessed with to the best of your ability is your mark of success.
The “status”, “ranking”, “job title” or “prestige” that may or may not come with it is not your measuring stick.
Your measuring stick is within you, it’s that sense of knowing that you did your best and gave it your all.
If you’ve been feeling like a failure and dragging through life because of it, I challenge you today to change the measuring stick you are using.
Be The Best You and let that be the measuring stick of your success!
