23 March 2017 – Choose, Embrace and Depend!

One of the things I like to do during the day while I’m working is listen to as many positive messages as I can.
These messages can take the form of songs, books, passages or sermons.
Yesterday I listened to a sermon that talked about how we should react in times of crisis.
The pastor’s message focused on 3 choices to make when we face crisis: Choose, Embrace and Depend.

Choose!
The first thing you do is make the choice of faith instead of fear!
As you and I know, there are times in our lives when this choice is not an easy one.
You face extreme difficulty or stress and things look like they are falling apart.
What your mind and body tell you is to run, flee, get away from the situation as fast as you can.
The last thing you are thinking about is staying calm and having faith.
But choosing faith over fear allows you to approach the situation with confidence.

Embrace!
The second thing you do is embrace the presence of God.
Let His presence in your life be the calming factor you need to see the situation in a different light.
Feel His presence by reflecting on His word, His promises, and His truths.
When you allow His presence into the situation it allows you to step back and take a deep breath.
The situation no longer seems hopeless and you start to feel an inner strength.

Depend!
The third thing you do is depend on God’s protection and guidance.
He will provide you a way out of your current situation.
You can look back on the times in your life when He has pulled you through, and each of us has those times.
Times when it was only through the grace and mercy of God that you made it through.
You have to depend on the fact that He will do it again.

There is no doubt that each of us will face moments of crisis in our lives, that’s a guarantee.
How you and I react in these situations is totally up to us.
I will Choose, Embrace and Depend…..how about you?
