Why Coaching?

“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.”
‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭4:9‬ ‭NLT

As a Christian Life Coach, I hear a number of questions from people about life coaching. Here are two of the more common questions. Why would someone want coaching? What is it that a coach will bring to my life that I don’t already have? Let me explain why I love being a coach to answer these questions.

Let me start off with the following quote from the book, Helping Others Turn Potential Into Reality, Christian Coaching by Dr. Gary R. Collins. When talking about people who are driven and outwardly pretty successful but find themselves with no spare time he said, ” Coaches can’t tell them how to control their overbearing, time-starved lives. But coaching can help them make decisions, evaluate their lifestyles, build new boundaries into their daily routines, reconnect with God, and feel hope once again.”

As a coach I walk with people through life transitions and other changes they may be facing. Life brings you change and sometimes in an unexpected way. Many times you aren’t ready for the adjustment. Coaching can help you reasses your life goals, find new career options, or simply find the information that will let you make wise decisions.

As a coach, I help facilitate communication and better relationships. Whether at home or on the job, everyone has those times when the communication seems to break down. Coaching helps to resolve differences, open lines of communication and more importantly build trust. The end result is better communication which leads to a healthier relationship.

As a coach, I stimulate your vision and enable you to set and reach goals. How many times have you had a dream but no idea how to make it a reality? Coaching helps you think beyond the present to truly see your future and how to get there. This involves setting short and long term goals and being held accountable as you take the necessary steps forward.

So why coaching? At the end of the day life coaching for me is about encouraging you, motivating you, challenging you and above all speaking the truth in love to you. Walking alongside you listening to your concerns while helping you to unveil your dreams, your visions and your goals. It’s about helping you to take the necessary action steps to move down the path God has for you. This is why I love coaching and why I would choose a coach!
