Playing It Safe

James 2:22 (NLT), “You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete.”

As a young kid you were told repeatedly to be safe. Your parents warned you of the danger of doing certain things because they wanted you to stay safe. If you’re an adult, you probably tell your spouse and your kids to be safe every time they leave the house. It’s a natural response to want your loved ones safe and to feel safe yourself.

But what if I told you there would come a time when playing it safe could keep you from reaching your destiny. Think back in your lives to some of the successes you’ve had. Somewhere along the way to reaching that success I bet you had to take a chance, be a little risky, operate on pure faith. Even though you may have been in a comfortable place prior to taking that leap of faith, you felt a calling to go further and achieve more so you went for it.

At some point along your journey, you will get to a comfortable place. A place of peace where everything is falling into place. But something will start tugging at your heart and mind saying this is not it, there’s more for you to do and achieve. God is calling you to do more. When that decision time comes will you play it safe and stay comfortable? Or will you step out in faith, taking a risk, to be all God has called you to be?
