Dear Life

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (NLT), “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.”

If you had to write a letter titled, “Dear Life”, how would it read? Would your letter be full of regrets for things you did in your past? Would your letter be full of joy because of all the great things that happened in your life? Would your letter be full of sadness because of the things you lost during your life? The content of your letter really depends on the focus you have on your life, how you view it. I say this because each of us has had moments of sadness, regret,  and joy in our life. The moments you choose to focus on will determine how you view your life, and the content of your “Dear Life” letter.

I’ve said in posts before, Jesus gives us all we need to live a blessed life. Each of you have the Fruits of the Spirit within you which help guide you towards a fulfilled life. As it says in Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT), “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” These things make up what I like to call our “Internal Fruit Store”. Throughout your life, this Fruit Store is there for you to use in every situation you come across. When these things are produced in your life, the view you have of your life will be different. The way you write your “Dear Life” letter will be different.

My “Dear Life” letter will not linger on past regrets or mistakes. It will not talk about the ways I messed up or how imperfect I am. My letter will focus on the second chance I received when I was born again in Christ. The slate was wiped clean and the blessed life was right there for me. Whether I reach that blessed life is totally up to me. I have to stay focused on God’s calling and the way he wants me to live my life. If I do those things, my “Dear Life” letter will be full of joy, love, success, and hope because of the love Jesus has for me and I for Him.

Each of you has the same power to shape how your “Dear Life” letter will read. Christ in His love and grace wiped the slate clean for you. There is no need for you to dwell on those negative moments from your past or your present. Your letter can be full of joy, love, success and hope also. Christ has filled you with all you need, that “Internal Fruit Store”,  to live the blessed life. You just have to believe! Believe you are made to be successful, believe you are made to love and be loved, and believe you are a child of God destined to live a blessed life and you will!
