Matthew 28:6 (NLT), “He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.”
Happy Easter Sunday! What a blessing it is to know what Easter Sunday represents for us, Christ overcoming the grave and defeating death forever. Christ’s completely selfless act of love, subjecting himself to death on the cross to rise again in three days, saved us from our sins. Christ’s love allows a sinner like me to know I have an eternal home with him that death cannot take away.
Do you realize this is your story also? Each one of us has been given this gift of eternal life by Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection. This is the kind of truth that should energize you each morning when you wake up. This is the kind of truth that should have you walking tall, with your head up and a smile on your face. You have the greatest gift in the world right there at your fingertips and all you have to do is receive it.
Because of this gift you are not to walk around defeated each and every day. Christ did not die on the cross for you to live a defeated life with no purpose or meaning. No, you are called to follow in Christ’s footsteps while you are here on earth awaiting your eternal home with Him. That means you are to live your life by the Fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. You are to be a blessing to others, living your life in such a way that it brings others to Christ. As Christians, how we live our lives and how we treat others is what people are watching. They want to see Christ reflected in us!
So today as you celebrate this Easter Sunday ask yourself, “Am I displaying Christ-like behavior in the way I live my life and how I treat others?” If you are, then continue what you are doing for you are changing lives. If you are not, then today is the day to make a change. Open up that Fruit Store within you and start living the life you are supposed to live. A life where you are a blessing to others, and in return you will be blessed. Jesus’ rising from the grave gave us all new life and hope. It’s time for you to grab on to that new life and bring hope to those around you!
