Psalms 5:3 (NLT), “Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.”
The verse above is one I strive to follow every day. In the morning one of the first things I do is get up and thank God for the day. Then I ask God to bless my day in many different ways, depending upon what I have going on that day. I bring my request to God with an expectancy that my Lord will provide for me. Some may ask how I could be so bold and my answer is because I’m relying on what God has already shown me.
Throughout scripture God has answered the prayers of his children when they have asked. In Isaiah 65:24 (NLT), God says, “I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers.” God heard their cries before the prayers came from their mouths and He showed them favor. And even when it looks like your prayer is going unanswered, God never forgets as we see in Genesis 30:22 (NLT), “Then God remembered Rachel’s plight and answered her prayers by enabling her to have children.” When Rachel thought God had forgotten about her, He shows her His promises are true.
There are many other examples in the scripture of God’s willingness to show favor on His children by responding to their prayers. Knowing this, why would you not come boldly to God each morning with your requests. You should wake up each morning expecting God’s favor on your life because of what He has already done. And while it’s great to have Scripture to reflect back on for examples, I can look at my own life and see the examples of God’s favor. Throughout my life God has blessed me in ways only He could, sometimes when I least expected it.
Each of you take a moment to reflect on your own life and how God has answered your prayers and brought you favor in the past. That wasn’t just a one time deal, God wants to continuously bless you in that way. But you have to get up in the morning expecting God’s favor. You are His child and His love for you calls Him to release favor upon you. It is who He is! Expect His blessings!
