Today we finish the Kindness chapter of Doug Dickerson’s book, Leaders Without Borders. The excerpt below focuses on encouraging and motivating others.
When it comes to your organization, what are you packing into the lives of your team?
What we pack may make all the difference in the world when it comes to encouraging aspiring leaders to go the distance.
Here are some suggestions as to what you can pack to encourage and motivate others.
Pack plenty of praise.
Hard-working team members deserve to be praised for what they do.
If your team is working hard and producing results, praise for them should be sincere and frequent.
A happy team is a productive team.
Praise for your team should be a priority; it’s what kind leaders do.
Pack a good attitude.
Never underestimate the power of a positive attitude in your organization.
When the chips are down, when the economy is sluggish, when prospects disappoint you, what sets you apart from everyone else is the power of your attitude.
Maintain a good attitude at all costs; it is the thread of your chute.
Pack plenty of confidence.
As you navigate all of the challenges that you face as a leader, maintaining your confidence will see you through.
Keep a steady hand, and resist the temptation to leap when you need to sit.
At the end of the day, confidence in yourself, your team, and your mission sets you apart from others.
Pack plenty of kindness.
Leaders who expand their borders do so with a kind heart.
Praise, a good attitude, confidence, and plenty of kindness are timeless traits worthy of attention.
As you invest in the lives of others around you, as you pack their chutes, just remember that what you put in is what comes out.
Pack wisely.
