Wednesday Wisdom!

Today we finish up the Loyalty chapter of Doug Dickerson’s book, Leaders Without Borders.

Loyalty can and should be manifested in various ways.
When you embrace your challenges as opportunities, then you discover the power of possibilities you never knew existed.
You can go further than you ever imagined when someone has your back.
Leaders who aspire to loyalty are mutually indebted to one another as together they work toward a shared destiny.
A wise leader understands that loyalty is the life blood of an organization, the bond of true friendship.

An unselfish leader models loyalty as a means of asking for it.
The reciprocal power of loyalty always trumps demand, and the esteem of leaders is characterized by their humility rather than by their arrogance.
Leaders understand that loyalty is not about being subservient, but rather putting the interest and the good of the team above their own.

Leaders pay attention to what is taking place around them.
Loyal leaders have their priorities in order.
When we place the interest and well-being of others ahead of our own, remarkable things can happen.
Unleashing a spirit of loyalty within your organizations creates an atmosphere of devotion to one another that is as powerful as the tsunami – but for good rather than bad.

Fair or not, leaders are defined by many things: the decisions they make, the successes they have, and the company’s bottom line.
Yet in the arena of noble characteristics that ultimately define leadership, loyalty is the benchmark to which to aspire.
