Wednesday Wisdom!

Good day all!

Today we continue through the Teamwork chapter of Doug Dickerson’s book, Leaders Without Borders.

The concept of teamwork in leadership is not about being a chameleon leader, but rather allowing the best and brightest to collectively bring their unique giftedness together to accomplish what couldn’t be done individually.
One thing I have discovered over the years in leadership is that leadership lessons can be found all around us if we are paying attention.

In Are You a Goose, Tom Washington shares a fascinating story about geese that reflects strong leadership principles of teamwork.
This fascinating story is full of pointed reminders of the power of teamwork.
When learned and applied, it can make a significant difference in the productivity of your organization.

Geese teach us that we can accomplish more when we work together as a team.
Individual talent brought you to the team; combining those talents creates a potent force.
To grow and achieve we must first be willing to help others grow and achieve.
People who share a common vision, mission, or purpose attain that goal more efficiently when they come together as a team.

Geese teach us the power of unity.
Solidarity of mission and purpose gives strength to organizational goals and make attaining them more realistic.
A unified team wants everyone to succeed.

Geese teach us to share the load.
Each team member possesses the necessary skills and talents for the team to be a success.
The formula for success is the same across the board; the team succeeds when we let the best ideas win out.

Don’t allow insecurity to cripple the productivity of your organization.
When the team shares the load, its work is more productive and the rewards are much greater.
