Being in leadership usually means there’s a title or position that comes with it. We’re called supervisors, coaches, directors, parents, etc. These titles show that we’re in a leadership position but these titles aren’t leadership.
If we rely solely on the authority of the title we have or the position we’re in to lead we’re not truly leading. The title or position doesn’t make you a leader, it’s your care for the people you’re leading that makes you a leader.
Each person we lead has hopes, dreams, and desires of their own. As leaders, we have to take time to learn what those are and how we can help make them achievable. This shows we truly care about those we influence. At this point they follow not because of your position or title but because they trust you. That in turn leads to building a team that can accomplish great things.
