Yesterday I finished reading Winning With People by John C. Maxwell. What a great book for truly understanding how to build strong, lasting relationships with people in all areas of your life.
Below are just a few of the lessons that were either reinforced for me or learned through this book.
1. If I want to develop strong relationships it takes time and work. You have to cultivate the relationship if you want it to grow.
2. Trust is the foundation for any relationship. It has to be developed and won’t happen overnight.
3. When entering into a relationship it can’t be about what I can get from the other person. I have to look for how I can add value to their life.
4. The experiences I’ve had in life, good and bad, will shape the relationships I have with others. I have to acknowledge that and not let negative past experiences keep me from developing current relationships.
There are 25 People Principles within the book that if applied to your daily life can truly have a positive impact on your relationships. I’m excited to share them with you over the next several weeks.
Focus today on the relationships in your life.
