It’s that time of year when we all start reflecting back on the year that is about to end. We look back on all the significant evens that have occurred in our lives. More often than not, it’s the negative events that seem to garner the most attention. They tend to get the most attention because we want to find a way to avoid having to deal with that type of trauma in the upcoming new year.
While this is a good thing to do, we have to be careful to not let the negative events overshadow the positive events. Each one of us can look back on this year and see positive events that have happened. There are areas where we have grown, areas we have improved and areas where we can see God’s blessing on our lives.
I encourage each of you to reflect just as much, or even more, on these events as you do the negative ones. Yes, we all have areas we want to improve on in our lives but we can’t let this cast a shadow on the blessings. Reminding ourselves of the blessings gives us the strength and faith to know He is with us. We have to give thanks for each and every day we are given for this in itself is a tremendous gift!
