Let’s imagine for a second that your heart is a computer hard drive.
This hard drive, like all hard drives has limited capacity, so you have to be diligent about what you store there.
And from time to time you have to go through your hard drive to clean it up so new things can be stored.
Now as you are going through this file system in your heart, what types of things would you find?
What people, places, things, emotions, etc. have you filed away?
I bet for many of us this search of our heart would reveal some old files that we forgot were there.
There are probably some old hurts, some past mistakes, some anger, some jealousy, and a lot of other things you didn’t realize you had kept.
What we hold in our hearts reveals the true nature of who we are.
This is why it’s important for us to do this file review of our hearts and the things we are holding onto.
Even though you may feel these things are gone, you have to truly purge them from your hearts.
If you don’t, they sit there waiting for that moment when you will open them up again.
For example, that hurt you are holding onto from 1984 will be made new again in 2017 if that file is still available for you to open.
So take some time to truly reflect on what you have in your heart.
If there are things there you know need to be removed, start the process of removing them so you can truly move forward.
Let your heart be a true reflection of the person God is calling you to be!
