For the past several years on the holiday to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr., I’ve set aside time to sit and listen to his “I Have A Dream” speech.
Each and every time I listen to it I get chills and I feel so much emotion.
Over 50 years ago that speech was made and still to this day it has such a powerful impact.
If you haven’t listened to it, I encourage you to listen to the full 17 minute version.
The dream Dr. King speaks of in his speech we are all still fighting to see realized.
The dream of equality for all.
The dream of being judged not by the color of our skin but the content of our character.
The dream of us all sitting together at the table of brotherhood.
Over 50 years later, we all still fight on to see these things become reality.
But that fight has to be a fight of love!
Love is the only thing that will change the course of our nation and our world.
And it starts with each and every one of us being able to look at each other through the lens of love.
We cannot focus on the differences between us because of our race, gender or ethnicity.
Doing that will continue to divide us and the dream will not be realized.
We have to view each other through the lense of being human beings, all created equally by God.
To treat each other with respect and love because of Who we truly belong to.
Then and only then will we be able to bridge the divide and realize the dream that Dr. King spoke of over 50 years ago.
The change starts with you and I, will you accept the challenge and bring the dream to reality?!
I Do!
