What does it mean to be refined? A few definitions label refined as “free of unwanted substances” or “improved to be more precise or exact.” In order to become refined you have to go through the refining process to get rid of the unwanted substances so you can become more precise and exact.

The thing about the refining process is that it’s not easy. When dealing with natural substances like gold it involves burning off the impurities with fire. When it comes to you it could mean moving on from friends who are taking you down the wrong path. It could also mean moving on from habits and addictions that are keeping you from moving down the path God has for your life. Giving up these things won’t be easy but you have to decide, will you allow yourself to be refined?

So often you fall short of who God calls you to be because you don’t want to be refined. You don’t want to give up those friends, even though they take you down the wrong path and continue to hold you back. You don’t want to give up those habits because they feel good to you temporarily even though they aren’t good for you.

At the end of the day you have to ask yourself if these things are worth you not becoming who you were made to be. Is it worth you falling short of the blessed life God has for you? I pray the answer is No and you make the decision today to be refined!
