“The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” Psalms 37:23 NLT
Often you’ve heard me say the phrase, “Attack The Day!” While it may sound like a simple thing to do, for many the problem is where to start. How do you attack the day? How do you seize control of your day instead of having it seize control of you? What do those steps look like?
For me, it’s all about starting the day on the offensive. The first step to attacking the day is to give thanks for being able to see this day. It’s extremely important to understand how blessed you are to have another day to attack.
The second step is to spend some alone time getting your mind in the right perspective. For me that’s alone time in God’s word. I use that time to focus on His promises and all the great things He has planned for my life.
The third step is to get your body physically ready to attack the day. For me this means working out to keep my body functioning properly. The physical workout also has the side effect of clearing my mind, preparing it for the day ahead.
The fourth step is to plan out how your day is going to go. I take a look at my schedule and the things I have planned. I focus on those things that may prove to be obstacles in my day and plan how I can work through them. During this time also make sure you’ve set aside some time for you and your family to enjoy.
The final step is to make a determination that no matter what life throws at you today, you will stay positive. For me, it’s taking a step back to reflect on the blessings I have and the path God has me on. That brings a smile to my face and a calmness to any situation.
Attacking the day means determining from the start of our day that you are in control of your emotions. It means focusing your attention on the positive side of everything. It means controlling the things you can control, like your thoughts, and praying through the things you have no control over. Attack Every Day!
