Romans 15:5-6 (NLT), “May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Living in harmony with each other, wouldn’t that be such a great way to live? With all the senseless killing because of the differences among us based on race, religion, gender, etc. it doesn’t seem like this would ever be possible. To live in harmony calls on each of us to truly follow Jesus’ example of loving each other despite the differences.

We as human beings have to stop looking for governments, religious leaders, etc. to tell us how to treat each other. That type of change cannot be mandated or legislated, it has to come from within each of us. Each of us has to make a determination that we will do better. You will love more, forgive more and provide more for those around you.

Inside each of you is that voice telling you the right way to go, the right way to treat each other and the right way to love. You just have to stop ignoring that voice and listen to it instead of listening to the outside voices telling you to hate, to not forgive and to not tolerate others. The voices telling you the differences among us are far greater than the things we have in common. The voices telling you the differences are what you should focus on. The voices telling you that unless the other person looks like you, acts like you and thinks like you they are to be discarded and ignored.

Today is the day for you, as an individual to decide which voice you are going to listen to. Change can happen in this world, but it starts with you!
