James 1:3 (NLT), “For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.”

This past weekend I watched the U16 girl’s hockey team my wife coaches compete in a tournament in Chicago. These 12-16 year old girls and their parents traveled over 700 miles one way to test themselves against better competition. Why would they do that? Because they want to become better. Even though they lost each game, they left Chicago knowing what is needed for them to become better. Fear of failure didn’t stop them from competing.

Just think, if they were afraid of failure and never tested themselves would they become better? The answer is no. It’s the same in our every day life for each one of us. There will come a time when you have to face giants in order to become better, even though there is a good chance you will fail. But understand this, if you stay where you are you will stay where you are! Sounds simple doesn’t it? Well it is. For any of us to fulfill God’s calling and become great we have to step forward.

You can’t let fear of failure keep you from reaching your goals. Have the desire within you to want to become better. Have the faith to know God has placed enough strength within you to succeed. It may not happen right away, but keep challenging yourself and the success will come!
