Friday Focus!

Today’s post will be the last one focused on Doug Dickerson’s book, Leaders Without Borders.

I hope you’ve picked up some tips to use during this journey.
This last excerpt from the Legacy chapter highlights the importance of relationship in building your leadership legacy.

When relationships are a high priority, building a legacy of leadership is not hard to do – even in the most challenging circumstances.
In order to be an effective leader and leave a legacy of value, you have to develop people skills and strong personal relationships.

How you treat people is a clear reflection of the value you place on them.
If you are going to leave a strong legacy as a leader, people must be your priority.

Relationships are your future.
Longevity in your organization is tied to how well you nurture relationships today.
How well you value relationships is a barometer as to your legacy.

If people in your organization are treated with respect and a conscious effort is made to build a team atmosphere, the possibilities of your organization are limitless.
In turn, your legacy is being fashioned for something great.

The best thing you can do as a leader is to understand that your legacy and the future of your organization are tied to successful relationship building.
It begins inside your organization and flows out.

If people are your priority and relationships are your future, then friendship is the pathway.
Friendship is the recipe that transcends the boundaries of business and stands the test of time.
A leader expanding his borders understands the value of genuine friendship, the importance of coming alongside a coworker and putting an arm around a shoulder in friendship.

A wise leader values, nurtures, and fosters friendships.
A leader building a legacy does so while building friendships.
