Good day to all! Today I share an excerpt from Doug Dickerson’s book, Leaders Without Borders, that is focused on the importance of curiosity as a leader.
While maintaining priorities requires discipline, a good leader is also curious when it comes to leadership style. A good leader allows a healthy curiosity to elevate one’s leadership skill and consequently that of the organization.
I believe that curious leaders are the lifeblood of any organization. I also believe that when leaders cease to be curious, creativity begins to wane.
A curious leader asks a lot of questions.
Asking questions is the pathway to understanding.
A curious leader challenges old assumptions.
Your way forward is through fresh eyes and clear thinking.
A curious leader is in the forefront of this new paradigm of challenge and must make curiosity comfortable for those more skeptical.
Guardians of tradition no doubt feel threatened by new ways of thinking, not understanding the greater threat of maintaining the status quo.
Curious leaders are willing to take risks.
The end result of questions and challenges to old assumptions are but one thing: action.
Curious leaders are not satisfied with the status quo and believe the challenges before them are worth the effort of big dreams and risks.
Are you a curious leader?
