Friday Focus – The 3 P’s

This time we live in of virus spreading, food hoarding, loss of income and stock market crashing feels like an intense storm. When we look around all we see are the dark clouds continuing to roll in. The clouds are so thick that we forget the blue sky on the other side. It’s hard to imagine brightness when all we see is darkness.

So how do you deal with this storm while remembering there is a blue sky on the other side? You do it with the 3 P’s: Patience, Perseverance and a Positive spirit!

Patience is the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble or suffering without getting angry or upset.  It is the ability to take a deep breath and assess the situation from a different perspective. For example, patience is needed to home school your children when that was never in your plan. Patience is also needed to deal with the new reality of working from home or having your workplace shut down.

Perseverance is persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. This is the drive within you to keep going despite the difficulty.  It’s the determination to say I’m going to keep living and embracing the life I have. Perseverance is telling yourself despite what’s currently happening I will survive. It’s living in this new normal that’s been created instead of letting it live within you.

A Positive Spirit is the fuel that keeps everything going. It’s the fuel that gets you up out of your bed in the morning with an attitude that this day will be great despite the adversity you may face. It’s a spirit that is contagious to others and is desperately needed during this time. That positive spirit is built on a foundation of faith. Faith that you know there are better days ahead.

This storm will pass my friends!
