The Tuesday Thought this week focused on understanding what it is we value in life. Those things that shape the decisions we make as leaders in our home, at work and other areas of our lives.
For today’s Friday Focus I wanted to give you a tool to help identify those values. It is called a Life Values Worksheet and I use it in life coaching. On it you will see about 50 items listed. There are things like faith, family, love, integrity and humility to name a few.
You select your top 15 out of the list, then you select your top 10 out of that and then you finish by selecting your top 5. The top 5 are your core values, the things that will impact your decision making the most.
This is a powerful tool for truly understanding yourself and why you react in certain ways to events in your life. It also can help you better understand others. My wife Jen and I did this and reviewed the results together to develop a better understanding of each other.
I encourage you to take the time to use it, reflect on what you learn and apply it to take your leadership and relationships to a new level.
