I would bet we all want to make changes in some area of our lives. The idea of change sounds great and we have great intentions but then reality hits. We find out the change will not be overnight and it will take some action on our part and we give up. I can relate to this because it’s been me many times.
But several years ago I committed to making significant changes in my life and self-discipline was the key. I realized the road to change can be long and difficult and without the self-discipline to stay the course I will quit the journey. If it’s change I truly want then my actions have to support it.
So what did that look like for me? To become an author I needed the self-discipline to write every day. To lose weight I needed the self-discipline to work out 5 times a week. To become a better leader I needed the self-discipline to grow in that area every day. To grow closer to God I needed self-discipline to spend quiet time with Him every day.
Now do I slip up and miss the mark on some days? Yes, but I don’t let that deter me, I just jump back on it the next day.
I encourage you today to develop the self-discipline needed to turn your intentions into actions. We all have the same 24 hours in our day, how will you use yours?
Evolution of Self!
