I can guarantee you that we’ll all face situations where people will treat us badly. It’s unfortunate but it’s reality. It can be at your job, in your school, in your church and even within your family. Knowing that these days will come the question we have to ask ourselves is, “Will I take the high road when my emotions want me to take the low road?”

The high road is sometimes not the easiest road to take. This is especially true when your natural instinct is to fight back. I still struggle with this and find myself on the low road at times. The thing that brings me back is realizing that we’re all human and make mistakes. I remember that about myself and in return I’m able to extend grace to others.

As an influencer, which we all are, the example you set when you’re able to take the high road in a difficult situation is invaluable. When those following you see you extend grace to those who are against you it’s a powerful lesson. It shows a strength of character that increases their belief and trust in you.

I’m not saying this will be easy and at times we’ll find ourselves on that low road. But when we do let’s reflect back on our own humanness and extend the grace needed to get us back on the high road where we are called to be!
