Yesterday I was listening to a John Maxwell podcast while driving home from work and heard the quote in the picture. When I heard it I had to rewind and listen to it again. Then when I got home I played it again so I could write it down. I knew it was something I had to share with you today because there is such truth in these words.
This hit home for me because there were many times when I chose the comfort of the old problem instead of the new solution. To be honest, I still struggle with this today. It’s so easy to stay where you are, even if it’s a problem area, because it’s something you know and you’re familiar with. To move away from that into something new is scary and many times unchartered waters. Even though it could fix the problem and move us into a better place, we avoid it out of fear.
The fear of change is such a barrier to growth in our lives. The fear of being uncomfortable and looking at a new way to solve the problem intimidates us. We must overcome the fear if we truly want to grow. We must move out of our comfort zone.
There’s no growth in staying comfortable with old problems because if there was they wouldn’t be problems at all!
