You’re probably wondering why I chose this sweaty workout picture for this Friday Focus. I chose it because it highlights 2 key ingredients to achieving any personal growth in your life: consistency and accountability.
This picture was taken yesterday at a gym in Minnesota. We are here for a quick visit to my in-laws as we drop off our son, CA, for his annual summer visit. An hour before this picture I was taking a nap, which I rarely get to do. My wife, Jen, woke me up and reminded me of our scheduled date with the gym. I felt like sleeping longer but I got up and prepared to hit the gym.
I was able to do this because of the consistency I’ve built into my life when it comes to working out and the accountability partner I have in Jen. I’ve learned that I need consistency and accountability to accomplish the fitness goals I have. Without these two things it would have been easy for me to just skip the gym and stay in that bed.
I share this story as an example of the individual choices we have to make every day. You’ll have to decide between following your plan or whatever other thing is taking you away from it. The choice is yours to make but understand what you choose will impact your growth in one way or another. You will move forward, stay stagnant or move backward. To move forward you will need consistency and accountability!
