This past week has been quite the journey for us all.
My son’s injury caught us all off guard and truly called upon us to rely on the faith we all have.
The range of emotions has gone from elation, to worry, to sadness, to thankfulness and to hope.
The reality for all of us is, this is life.
Each one of us will face some type of adversity in our lives.
That adversity will either come directly against us or it will come upon those we love and support.
During these times if you don’t have a strong foundation of faith and belief, it will be very difficult for you to make it through.
There are a number of truths we all reflected on as the seriousness of the injury was revealed:
- When the storms of life happen you can choose to fight through it or give up in despair.
This is an important decision we each must face when adversity comes.
Yes, the situation will cause despair.
Yes, the situation will cause pain.
Yes, the situation will bring sorrow.
But you can’t stay in those emotions.
You allow them to be a part of the process then you move forward deciding you will fight to get through it.
You will fight to heal and recover.
You fight so it doesn’t defeat you. - No matter the circumstance you are currently going through, it doesn’t derail God’s plan for your life.
In times of adversity it’s natural to question God.
Why did this happen?
Why now, when I had so many plans for my life?
This is where your faith in His power kicks in and you realize God’s plan for your life is not derailed by the unfortunate circumstance you’re facing.
He has shown time and time again through Scripture that His plans overcome any obstacles.
This brings joy and peace as you realize God is still in control. - Even the most difficult circumstances can grow us in a positive way.
You adversity can be a positive thing if you take the time to see the other things it reveals.
Each time we go through adversity I believe it’s an opportunity for us to see some things we have been overlooking.
When adversity causes us to slow down from our normal pace, it reveals other areas in our lives where God is trying to show us something.
It reveals areas in our lives where we need to grow.
The adversity causes you to lean not on your own understanding but on He who provides all understanding.
Through the adversity you become a stronger version of yourself as you strengthen other areas of your life.
Yes, adversity is tough and none of us want to face it.
But we all realize that adversity is something we can’t avoid, it’s a part of our human existence.
The thing we must all do is build our lives upon a strong and solid foundation that supports us through the adversity.
This enables us to not only overcome the adversity but to come out on the other end better than we were before the adversity struck.
We are all more than conquerors, never forget that!
