Wisdom is defined as, “the quality of having experience, knowledge and good judgment; the quality of being wise.”
Wisdom is something that we normally attribute to those who are older.
Why is that?
Because wisdom is gained through experience, you have to go through some things to develop wisdom.
But not just go through some things, you have to use that experience and the knowledge you gained from it to make better choices in the future.
This is the good judgment part of the definition, and sadly the part many of us miss far too often.
We all have experienced things in our lives, both good and bad, that help shape the decisions we now make.
Each time you use those past experiences to make better decisions, you are gaining wisdom.
This is something we should all strive for, to use the experiences of our past to make better decisions for our future.
How do you do that?
You have to see the things you’ve experienced in life for what they truly were.
If it was a bad experience, accept it as such vowing never to let that happen again.
If it was a good experience, accept it as such vowing to have more experiences like that.
Accepting the truth of your past experiences allows you to move forward from them wiser and better prepared to have good judgment in the future.
Don’t keep repeating the mistakes of the past, use the wisdom you’ve gained from them to forge a new path for your life!
