“Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.” Galatians 6:4 (NLT)
You have been given special gifts, talents and abilities that are just for you. They are a part of who you are, given to you so you can accomplish the purpose God has for you. Some of you have talents and abilities that will be presented on a national or world stage for thousands upon thousands to see. Others have talents and abilities that will be presented on a much smaller stage, maybe only 20 – 30 people get to appreciate your abilities. Whatever the case, whatever the stage may be, if you are using your talents and abilities in the right way you are fulfilling your purpose.
The tough part for us as humans is not to look at other people and compare ourselves and what we are doing to them and what they are doing. It’s tough for you to keep going down the path God has for you when your pride says you are are not receiving the same amount of praise as someone else. At this point you have to call upon the humility God calls you to display.
That’s when you have to reflect on why you’re doing what you’re doing. It’s not for the praise and the accolades, it’s to live out the purpose God has for you, to please Him. When you see other people receiving the praise, can you be happy for them, while still embracing your own talents?
Do not try to compare your gifts to their gifts. You have to realize there is no comparison. God didn’t give you the talents and abilities you have so you can compare them to someone else’s and be in competition with them. Your purpose is your purpose and their purpose is their purpose, each given with an end goal of service to God.
You are not in a comparison battle with anyone else. No one compares to you! Remember God made you special and unique!
