Hebrews 11:1 (NLT), “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”
We all have dreams which have been placed on our hearts. At a young age we were asked what we wanted to be when we were all grown up. Most of the times those answers were things like doctors, astronauts, etc. These answers were based off the childhood dreams that we had. As we got older the answer to the question may have no longer included those childhood dreams. The answer was now shaped by what would actually provide us a decent living as an adult. We started to focus more on what society told us we should be doing rather than pursuing our dreams. Sadly because of that, many of us are not living our dreams right now.
I know I am one of those people. I have dreams placed upon my heart which I haven’t begun to pursue. For so many years, I was completely focused on doing what it took to provide a stable income to support my family. This meant pursuing my dreams had to be put on the back burner, or so I thought. What I failed to realize at the time was once God places a dream on your heart, He will give you the means to pursue and accomplish it. I did not have the faith to believe God would provide if I started following His path for my life.
If I thought pursuing my dreams would take me out of the comfort zone I had established for my family, you can understand why I would be hesitant to risk that. But this is where true faith comes in. If we are looking at it from a human viewpoint then yes, it would be silly to pursue our dreams if it meant going outside of our comfort zone. But if we trust God and look at it as fulfilling the dream He has placed inside of us, then it makes sense to march forward.
It’s never too late for you to start pursuing your dreams, to walk the path God has laid out for you. It all begins with you having enough faith in God to realize if he brought you to it, He will bring you through it. As it says in Matthew 21:21 (NLT),”Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.”
Once you build that kind of faith then it’s time to start walking God’s path for you. I’ve mentioned this before in other blogs, to make your dreams happen you have to take action. James 2:26 (NLT) says,”Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.” We can’t just have faith that God placed the dream on our hearts and will provide, we have to follow that up with work. Whatever your dream is, put together an action plan to actually bring that dream to life.
Achieving your dreams is not easy but it can be accomplished. Every day someone is living the dream that has been placed inside their hearts by God. Every day someone is having enough faith in God to realize He will help them bring that dream to life. If you are not living your dream then today is the day to start. It’s never too late to fulfill your dreams and be all God has called you to be.
